One Small Step at a Time

I've always jokingly mused that I would love to have my name plastered all of Sam Houston State University. Today I have moved a few steps closer to be all over campus. My friend Ashton informed me that my photograph was on the front page of the SHSU website. I also was told by the advisor for Omicrom Epsilon Delta that they would be sending me an invitation for membership into the International Economics Honor Society. This, coupled with the past couple weeks of joining Orange Key and becoming a College of Business Ambassador, has been a good month overall.

Yay!

Bienvenidos Maiz!

My friend Chet showed me an interesting article last week, but I'm just now coming around to posting it. It's time to stock up on Tequila before it's too late:

Tequila officials, meanwhile, believe there could be an agave shortage on the horizon, Sánchez said.

"When the price of agave is low, people get demoralized and abandon their crops," he said.

During the last agave shortage in 2001-02, some premium tequilas cost a few dollars more a bottle. Some distillers added other types of alcohol to their tequila to stretch supplies. Tequila has to contain only 51% pure agave to carry the name.

Well, it looks like farmers are trading their agave plants for the quickly rising price on corn. Yay for Ethanol. Boo for higher tequila prices.
